I once spent an entire year attempting to disprove Christianity. I read every book I could get my hand on, from philosophy, to theology, to physics with arguments for and against Christianity. I read all the "Case for" books byLee Strobel and the majority of the books by C. S. Lewis including his "Pilgrim's Regress." I would spend entire days in the book store reading books by physicists and biologists. After a year of this, I found myself on my knees, asking God to make His presence known to me, and He did. I was eleven-years-old.
We post a lot of things on Reality in Albuquerque. I love running this page. I hope, though, that you never lose sight of a truth that lead me to an unwavering faith in sixth grade: Question everything!
I think a lot of Christians are afraid to look at scientific evidence or debate using reasoning and logic. That's probably harsh of me, but I've seen people use the excuse "Do not test the Lord your God" for "Do not question anything." God isn't afraid of our questions.
There are a lot of times we question and we don't need to be afraid of that. The Psalmist questioned constantly, and received reassurances from God, I believe, because he was being honest with God.
Sometimes we may feel an inexplicable pull to pray with a stranger, but we're too embarrassed to approach them. Sometimes we may just have an idea about someone in our church and that idea just won't get out of our head, but we feel weird sharing it with them. Most church groups call those two things prophesy, but some prefer to call it "resonating with the Holy Spirit." I don't know what the difference is, but in any case the best encouragement I can give you is this:
God died for you because He loved you. He created an entire universe because He wanted to be glorified. God does not want to embarrass you, and He is not one to pass up the opportunity to be glorified.
Speak boldly! Question with confidence! God won't let you down. He won't let you let Him down. What are you afraid of?
